Why should you treat Gum Recession?
Symptoms of Gum Recession
- Halitosis, or Bad Breath (due to gum disease)
- Bleeding Gums (due to gum disease)
- Tooth Sensitivity
- Loose Teeth
- Teeth That Look Longer than Others
Gum recession is most often referred to as a symptom of gum disease; however, it also caused by brushing too aggressively, grinding your teeth or genetics. Receding gums can cause pain and sensitivity as they draw back from the teeth, revealing the tooth roots. The tooth roots are not intended to be above the gum line, so recession leaves them vulnerable to disease and cavities. If treatment is delayed, this can damage the tooth’s supporting structures, causing loose teeth or even tooth loss.
