COVID-19 Procedures for South Hills Dental Arts

To ensure patient safety for our reopening, our team has adpated our health and safety protocols to conform to the newly mandated regulations that have been set forth by the Pennsylvania Government and Department of Health, as well as the CDC, OSHA, ADA and PDA, interpretation of these mandates.

Changes to Expect at Your Appointment

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have changed the way in which we conduct in-person appointments. To ensure social distancing is practiced, we will no longer be using the reception area for seating patients awaiting treatment. Patients will instead be asked to call the office when they arrive, and we will call or text the patient when we are completely prepared to treat them.

Before you enter the office, we will ask you about your recent travels and health and will also require you to wear a mask. When you enter the office, you can expect to follow these steps:
  • You will be greeted at the door by one of our team members to have your temperature taken with a touchless thermometer and will then be escorted to a hygiene or treatment room.
  • Once you are seated, you will be given a rinse of Oracare, which has been proven to effectively reduce many viral and bacterial pathogens.
  • Our systems will be structured so that scheduling your next appointment and making your payment can all be handled in the treatment room.
  • Once your treatment and clerical necessities are complete, you will be escorted to the exit by a team member with your facemask on.

We have also added virtual visits at www.southhillsdentalarts.com for emergency, current, and new patients. This allows us to treat patients more efficiently and eliminates the need for multiple visits during the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Technology for Increased Health and Safety During Your Visit
The safety and health of our patients and staff is our top priority, which is why we have adopted the latest technology for sterilization, air purification, and PPE (personal protective equipment). These new safety measures allow us to meet and go above and beyond the universal precautions we’ve had in place for years and the requirements to treat patients during the COVID-19 pandemic:
  • Secondary suction units- We will be using new chairside suction units equipped with a medical-grade HEPA filter to vacuum airborne particles from the treatment area. This aerosol management allows us to provide cleaner treatment and a healthier environment that is not available at most dental practices.
  • Hypochlorous acid- We have added electrolyzed antimicrobial/antiviral spray and fog to our already-thorough treatment room cleaning protocol to deep clean the treatment room between patients.
  • Ozonator- This machine, which we will use during non-patient hours, produces ozone that is used to disinfect surfaces and remove bacterial and viral airborne pathogens from the entire office.
  • Increased PPE- Our team members will be wearing gowns, n95 or equivalent masks, face shields, and other personal protective equipment.
